Columbus, OH – August 23, 2012 – Numerous calls from consumers have alerted the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of a deceptive offer making the rounds in Central Ohio. Consumers are receiving a deceptive, official looking letter offering a free Android Tablet Computer, when in fact; it is an attempt to lure them into purchasing a vacation package.

Better Business Bureau receives thousands of complaints each year from consumers who unknowingly fall for scamming door-to-door solicitors. While many door-to-door salespersons are honest, BBB receives troubling complaints from consumers who purchased items like magazines that never came, cosmetics and photography of poor quality, even meat that was no good. BBB warns that deceptive door-to-door sellers are looking to make a quick buck…and they’re on the rise.

Columbus, OH – August 8, 2012 – The Better Business Bureau of Central Ohio (BBB) today issued an alert to warn consumers and businesses against an online beauty product company. MBeauty Lounge, an internet company selling popular discounted nail polish products worldwide, has racked up over 115 complaints from consumers in 25 states and 21 countries.

August 6, 2012 – Columbus, OH – Residents in Central Ohio have reported to your Better Business Bureau (BBB) that an individual by the name of ‘Tim’ claiming to be the owner of Tree Busters approached residents in Worthington, offering to perform tree removal services after taking the resident’s money, but never completed the work.

Better Business Bureau warns that deceptive door-to-door magazine sales crews are hitting the pavement and looking to earn a quick buck this summer. In the last 12 months alone, BBB has received 1,100 complaints from consumers in 46 states and the District of Columbia against more than 50 companies that are selling magazines door-to-door.
